Legends & Lore
Every famous Chinese tea carries a story — emperors, goddesses, grateful scholars, and a leaf that fell from the sky. Read the legends behind the teas in your cup, then learn what's history and what's just a very good tale.
Who Is This For
The first time I heard a tea legend, I was holding a cup of Longjing someone had just brewed for me. They pointed at the flat leaves and said, 'An emperor flattened those with his sleeve.' I laughed — then I went home and fell down a rabbit hole. An emperor really did visit those tea hills. A farmer really did name his tea after a goddess. A scholar really did hang his robe on a tea bush. Are the stories embellished? Absolutely. But collecting them taught me more about tea than any catalog ever did, because every legend carries real history inside it — real places, real dynasties, real people who loved this drink enough to make up stories about it. This is my collection, retold honestly: the legend first, then the facts underneath.
Anyone who loves a good story with their tea. You don't need to know anything about tea categories or brewing — these legends are the way tea culture was passed down for centuries, and they're the most fun way to meet the famous teas.
